Believe it or not, I’ve actually begun learning and playing with video editing. My videos are typically famous for being very “low fi” and un-edited, and I’m not sure I want to change that or else I’ll hardly ever have time to post, but as part of our new arcade/studio project, we are hosting popular artists to perform and recording and videotaping them in the arcade setting and releasing high-quality edited videos of the performance. Here are the first two tracks from our debut show… I hope you enjoy them. Soon I will be posting more repair videos!
PBH Update: new games and videos coming soon
I apologize for not posting as much lately. There have been a bunch of things going on, but I have picked up more games and hope to do more videos on “first looks” as well as “how to” for various things.
In the past few months much of my work has been dedicated towards getting the new space operational and doing PR for our club, the Mystic Krewe of the Silver Ball. An fans of PBH that want to support our club, visit the web page www.MysticKrewe.com.
Recently several new games have come in, including: LW3, Slick Chick, Vector, and a bunch of old playfields that we are trying to figure out what to do. A few games have come in that might not be salvageable — we shall see. And we have a bunch of pieces-parts that we want to try and do some creative things with… stay tuned for more videos!
Tommy Malone Live @ the PinChurch
Last Wednesday we did our first live show…. The pinball arcade we’ve been building in the New Orleans area isn’t just about pinball. We’ve incorporated a state-of-the-art recording and internet broadcast studio into the space. Using the pinball games as a unique backdrop and the arcade as a very special, interesting place to be.
Check out the actual live cybercast here. We will be releasing a high-quality HD video of this soon.
Pinball + Music
This week has been so much fun I just had to share it with you all.
My new workshop, the “PinChurch” is becoming pretty popular now. In addition to having the South’s largest collection of vintage pinball, we’ve also built a state-of-the-art studio and performance space, and this has attracted a wide variety of really cool people.
This week the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival has been in town and the whole city is rocking with great music and parties. We’ve had people come in from all around the country, and we’ve had some great artists & musicians use our space. Not the least of which is the incomparable Tommy Malone and the Subdudes.
Here are a few camera-phone videos of their rehearsal… hope you enjoy! 🙂
The band does their twist on the Chi-Lites classic:
Later this month we will actually be hosting a live performance in the venue and streaming it online — stay tuned for that… you will have a chance to watch the event live!
First Look: 1968 Gottlieb Domino Pinball
Here’s a quick video of a new machine that entered the club today. It’s pretty rare to find this machine especially one in such good condition, so it’s a treat to bring this to you.. check out this early Gottlieb Wedgehead, Domino.
Rebuilding a Tempest X-Y Vector Monitor
I take a bit of a break from working on pinball machines in this video and do some work on a Tempest video game I pieced together from various parts. The monitor started smoking and fizzing on me and then went completely out — which signaled a good time to completely rebuild it.
For additional information on working on these monitors, here is a good resource:

WOZ 1.25 in-depth Pinball Machine review
After finally getting our game delivered, and putting over 100 games on the machine, I thought I might outline some of my initial impressions with the game, the ruleset, the design, pros and cons on how JJP’s new pinball machine is shaping up.
